Assad: rebuilding of infrastructure will cost $400 billion, will take 10-15 years

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad said at a meeting with Russian MPs that the air strikes caused by the Western coalition only helped the Syrian people to stop being afraid of the NATO countries, said Dmitry Sablin, the coordinator of the State Duma’s liaison group with the SAR Parliament.

«President Assad said that the people of Syria after the strikes stopped fearing the country of NATO», Sablin said.

«The President of Syria especially drew attention to the fact that Syria will continue its independent and sovereign development, despite the agenda imposed by the West», the MP added.

Sablin also told reporters after meeting with Assad that the amount of necessary funding for the restoration of Syria’s infrastructure is estimated at $ 400 billion.

«President Assad said that it will take about $ 400 billion to restore the infrastructure of the Syrian Arab Republic, which, according to his estimates, will take from 10 to 15 years», he said.

On the night of April 14, the United States, Britain and France struck a number of targets in Syria.

The United States and its allies regard the strikes against Syria as a proportional response to the hematoca in the Syrian Duma, in which they accuse Damascus.

Damascus charges dismissed.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, a mission of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons arrived to Damascus to verify information about the alleged use of chemical weapons by Syrian forces against militants in East Ghouta.

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Bashar Jaafari, said that the OPCW experts will meet with representatives of the Syrian authorities.
