Assad: Priority for Russian companies in the reconstruction of Syria

Russian Federation Council member Andrei Turchak, said that Syrian President Bashar Al Assad confirmed Damascus’s readiness to give priority to the reconstruction of Syria to Russian companies, if they are interested in it.

Turchak said President Assad estimated the needed amount to rebuild infrastructure in Syria at about 400 billion USD, stressing that the reconstruction process could take 10 to 15 years.

Turchak pointed out that President Assad also expressed the readiness of the Syrian government to move towards the formation of a pluralistic parliament, drawing on Russian parliamentary experience.

Earlier, Turchak called on Russia not to slow down investment in the Syrian economy and engage in the process of rebuilding Syria so as not to be preceded by Iran and China.
