Media reports revealed new details about the US military strike, which was directed at a target in Syria on Friday, indicating that a second attack was canceled immediately before its implementation.

Fox News reported that the attack was carried out by US Air Force F-15 fighters, which dropped a total of 7 500-pound laser-guided bombs, but not all of the original targets were destroyed due to the abandonment of the second mission.

The US mission aimed to hit two separate compounds in Syria, however, US officials told the network that the second target was not targeted after a drone flying in the sky detected a very large number of civilians around it.

In the end, aircraft bombed seven small buildings in eastern Syria, at 1 a.m. local time.

According to Washington, its attacks targeted an Iranian-backed militant group. US officials say it is now up to Iran to take the next step.

On the return flight to Andrews Air Force Base last night from the West Coast, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin thanked Iraq for its assistance in the strike.

And said: We allowed and encouraged the Iraqis to investigate and develop intelligence information, and that was very useful for us in refining the goal.

But the Iraqi army said on Friday that it had not cooperated in any way with the US air strike in Syria, stressing that it was only working with the United States against ISIS, according to local reports.

Several countries, including Russia, condemned the US attack on Syrian territory, and the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow condemns the US air raid on a facility in Syria, and calls on Washington to respect the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic.
