In what seems to be a remarkable step, the Israeli military censorship allowed on Tuesday the Israeli Channel 10 Military analyst Alon Ben-David to reveal that IDF Chief of Staff General Gadi Eisenkot appointed a special committee to examine the military failure of the Israeli army in the light of the failure of the military operation that took place in Gaza, early this November.

The announcement came after Izz Al Din Al Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said that public information helped them track the threads of the Israeli infiltration troops in Gaza Strip on November 11.

The military analyst for Israeli television Channel 10, Alon Ben-David, said at the news bulletin on Tuesday night, quoting senior security sources in Tel Aviv that the military operation carried out by an Israeli force was exposed by Hamas.

According to Ben-David, Hamas fighters confiscated the personal belongings of several members of the Golani Brigade’s special unit who failed to carry out the operation, without disclosing the name of the unit or other details about the operation and its objectives that the unit could not achieve that night.

The Israeli military analyst said that the professional investigation committee set up by the IDF led by General Nitzan Allon will investigate the circumstances of the operation and the reason for its failure, pointing out that this failure will cast a negative shadow on other Israeli operations in a number of hostile countries in the Middle East, and Hamas managed to exposes it, pointing out that this matter worries the IDF a lot on strategic level and will cause serious damage to IDF & Israeli security activities behind enemy lines.

In order to prove the depth of Israel’s military and security stalemate, the analyst quoted senior sources in Tel Aviv as saying that the commission, which began investigating the Israeli failure, would have to make recommendations to dismiss senior army officers and remove them from their sensitive posts, Pointing out that so far IDF hasn’t been able to know how the personal information of the officers and soldiers who participated in the process, to the hands of Hamas.

The Israeli press has previously revealed information regarding the Israeli military leadership to conduct extensive investigations into the reasons for the failure of the operation in Gaza, while Haaretz newspaper revealed that the IDF is currently conducting investigations and secret procedures to find out how the special force that infiltrated the eastern Khan Yunis, Caused the failure of the secret operation, which did not reveal its nature.

In a report published by military analyst Amos Harel, the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee requested a confidential report on the circumstances of the military operation in the Gaza Strip in which one officer was killed and another wounded in a clash with Hamas members two weeks ago.

The military censure by General Ariela Ben-Avraham, which published a statement asking the media not to publish details about the operation, after the news broke out by Hamas and social media platforms between both Palestinians and Israelis public, and addressed to Israeli users that, regardless on the reliability of the information, citizens of the State are requested not to publish images or to identify personal information or other information related to the operation in any social media or communication platforms.

She added that military censorship would not comment on the credibility of the details and the footage published by Hamas.

As a result of the Israeli military censorship statement, the Israeli media insisted on the instructions and just published shaded images without going into details.

Under these circumstances, as the famous say that “every forbidden is desirable”, the Israeli social media users start to search looking for the original details and footage on Palestinian social media platforms.

This proved to be an achievement for Hamas in the psychological war against Israel, which is an extension of the way that Hezbollah also used to deals with Israel.

The shock that Israel received from the publication of details and footage of the Israeli force team that carried out the infiltration attempt in Khan Younis had a violent impact on Israeli society, especially since Hamas also responded to the operation by firing more than 520 rockets and missiles at southern Israel.

As a result of the operation of the IDF which caused the killing of the team commander, Lt. Col. Mahmoud Khaireddin, 41, resident of the Druze village of Horvish, northern Israel, who was the deputy of the Israeli army’s Maglan unit, with also injured his second in command in the team.

The failed operation also caused the Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman to resign.
