American businessman: Trump has a plan to develop Syria’s oil and gas sector

Jonathan Bass, CEO of Argent, a US-based liquefied natural gas company, revealed a strategic project to restructure Syria’s energy sector, noting that the plan is now on the table of US President Donald Trump, and that discussions are already underway between the Syrian and American sides.

Bass explained that the initiative includes the launch of a Syrian-American energy company called SyriUS Energy, in partnership with major international companies.

A legal entity listed on the US stock exchange will be established, with a Syrian sovereign energy fund holding a 30% stake.

According to Bass, the plan is divided into five phases:

The first begins with restoring security to oil-producing areas and conducting an infrastructure assessment, focusing on key fields such as al Omar, al Taym, and al Tanak.

The second phase aims to rehabilitate the Homs and Baniyas refineries and expand the local gas distribution network.

The third phase includes the establishment of “SyriUS Energy” as a modern national company operating in partnership with international investors.

The fourth phase is, which seeks to establish transparency through the digitization of the Ministry of Energy and the activation of a sovereign wealth fund to manage revenues.

The fifth phase focuses on activating legitimate energy exports and regional integration with neighboring countries.

Jonathan Bass visited Damascus and met with President Ahmed al Sharaa earlier this month.

He is believed to have played a pivotal role in the rapprochement between Washington and Damascus, which paved the way for the meeting between al Sharaa and President Trump during his visit to Riyadh.
