Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Sunday signed the country’s 2026 budget finance law, which is the largest in the country’s history with a total allocation of more than $135 billion.

The signing ceremony took place at the presidential residence in the presence of members of the government and senior state officials.

The 2026 Finance Law includes the largest budget in the country’s history, exceeding $135 billion, an increase of $8 billion from the 2025 budget, which was about $128 billion.

The National People’s Assembly (the first chamber of parliament) voted on the 2026 finance law on November 18, and then the National Assembly (the second chamber of parliament) voted on it on December 4.

Following the signing of the 2026 Finance Law by the Algerian president, the text will be sent to the General Secretariat of the Government, to be published in the Official Gazette, before it enters into force on January 1 next year.

During the various stages of the passage of the finance bill in both chambers of parliament, from debate to ratification, Finance Minister Abdelkarim Bouzard explained that it comes to enhance the performance of the national economy, especially in sectors other than hydrocarbons.

The draft law includes measures “to protect the purchasing power of citizens, support the economy, and encourage investment,” he said.

According to the basic indicators of the Finance Law, the economic growth rate is expected to reach 4.1% in 2026, 4.4% in 2027, and 4.5% in 2028, driven by the expected performance of the non-hydrocarbon sectors”.
