Akar: We’ll take the necessary measures regarding meetings with our Syrian counterparts

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said, commenting on an upcoming tripartite meeting, which he will bring together with the Syrian and Russian defense ministers, that Ankara is taking the necessary measures at all levels to protect its rights.

Confirming the existence of contacts in this regard, this comes after previous statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which he declared his readiness to meet Syrian President Bashar al Assad.

On the other hand, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that his country will take the necessary steps in 2023 to establish a 30-kilometer-deep security zone on the border with Syria.

Erdogan said in a speech to the nation after the cabinet meeting on Monday: “We’ll take new steps to fill the gaps in our 30-kilometer-thick security line in order to completely eliminate threats to our country in Syria”.

On Sunday, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and Turkish army officers inspected the military units deployed near the border with Syria.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense said, in a statement, that the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff, and the commanders of the naval and land forces, inspected the forces on the Syrian borders in the state of Hatay.
