Abdullah Öcalan: The PKK’s disarmament will happen quickly

Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan pledged in a video message released Wednesday that the party would lay down its weapons swiftly.

“In the context of fulfilling the promises we have made, the armed struggle must end voluntarily and we must move to the legal stage and democratic politics,” Öcalan said in the video.

He noted that regarding the laying down of arms, appropriate methods will be determined and swift practical steps will be taken.

He explained that a committee is currently being formed within the Turkish parliament to voluntarily and legally disarm.
