A US citizen freed from Assad’s prisons found in Damascus suburbs
The US State Department confirmed that its aware of reports indicating that a US citizen was found near the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The US State Department explained that its working to provide the necessary support for this citizen who was found in the Damascus countryside area.
The statement added, “We continue our efforts to search for Austin Tice and any other US citizen who may need assistance in Syria”.
Travis Timmerman, who hails from Missouri, was found in the Damascus countryside.
These developments come amid continuing uncertainty over the fate of a number of US citizens missing in Syria, including journalist Austin Tice, who has been missing since 2012.
The Syrian Military Operations Department said that it was holding US journalist and working to protect him, while verifying his identity.
