
A senior US Treasury official traveled to Türkiye this week to discuss sanctions and export controls imposed on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine, the US Treasury said, as Washington closely monitors the growing economic ties between Ankara and Moscow.
In a statement, the department said Elizabeth Rosenberg, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism Financing and Financial Crime, traveled to Ankara and Istanbul from Monday to Wednesday, where she met with her counterparts, including officials from the Treasury and State Department, and representatives from the financial and commercial sectors.
