A Saudi official: Erdogan’s hostile government … Any investment or tourism there is a support for our enemies
Saudi newspapers published statements by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Riyadh and the Chairman of Ajlan and Bros. Group Ajlan Al Ajlan saying that, “The current Turkish government, led by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is an enemy of Saudi Arabia, its leadership and its people, and I warn that any investment or Saudi tourism in Turkey is support for this enemy”.
Al Ajlan also tweeted: “The organized rhetoric and campaigns of the Turkish government against the Kingdom have become clear to all”.
He added: “Today I say it frankly, the current Turkish government led by Erdogan is an enemy of the Kingdom and its leadership and people, and any investment or tourism in Turkey is to support this enemy”.
The Saudi statements, which were not Al Ajlan’s statements against Turkey, came after the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in his consulate in Istanbul, with the Turkish government accusing and declaring of having evidence that the Saudi crown prince had been ordered the crime.
Saudi Arabia on the other hand accuses Turkey and its government of supporting terrorist organizations represented by the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as the continuing state of hostility between the kingdom and Iran, which is also accused it of supporting terrorist groups in the region.
