A former British prime minister rise spying allegation on Benjamin Netanyahu
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that his staff found a listening device in his office bathroom after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the British Foreign Office in 2017, when Johnson was foreign secretary.
Johnson made his claim in new memoir, Unleashed, and excerpts from it have been published by the Telegraph.
“Bibi (Netanyahu) used the bathroom for a while, and it may or may not have been a coincidence, but I was later told that security staff had discovered a listening device in the toilet during a routine check,” Johnson wrote in his memoir.
Asked by The Telegraph for further details, Johnson replied, “I think everything you need to know about that incident is in the book”.
According to the Telegraph newspaper who indicated that it’s not clear whether this issue was followed up with Israeli officials, but it stated that there were similar reports at the time accusing Israel of spying on the White House.
These claims of spying weren’t new, as in 2019, Netanyahu denied a report that claimed that Israel had planted spying devices near the White House during the term of former US President Donald Trump.
