Maduro: No one can defeat Venezuela
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said his country has received overwhelming support from the United Nations Security Council over the US seizure of Venezuelan oil tankers.
In remarks to reporters on Tuesday, Maduro referred to the emergency meeting held at the UN Security Council at the request of Venezuela.
Maduro has called the US detention of Venezuelan oil tankers piracy.
“No one can defeat Venezuela… The Security Council is providing overwhelming support to Venezuela with regard to its right to freedom of navigation and free trade”.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Iván Gil said in a statement that his country had refuted all the lies of the US government during the Security Council meeting.
Khel stressed that the United States is acting with a colonial mentality, adding, “No country in the world, even the historical allies of the United States, has supported the use of force or the threat to subjugate a free and sovereign nation under the false pretext of counter-narcotics”.
Tensions have recently escalated between Venezuela and the United States, with the latter detaining two oil tankers off the coast of Venezuela, following Washington’s announcement that it would seize all sanctioned oil tankers under the pretext of Caracas’ financing of drug terrorism.
US President Donald Trump also called on his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolás Maduro to step down from his post, threatening him with a huge naval fleet surrounding Venezuela.
