Trump: Middle Eastern countries with vast wealth will help rebuild Gaza
US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that other countries in the Middle East will help rebuild the Gaza Strip, without providing further details about these countries.
“We believe that Gaza will be a safer place, and other countries in the region will help with the reconstruction because they have enormous wealth and want to see it happen… We’ll participate in helping them make the process a success and maintain peace,” Trump added in a phone interview with Fox News.
CNN previously reported that the United Nations will support the full implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza, according to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Guterres said that the United Nations “will work to expand the provision of sustainable and principled humanitarian relief, and to enhance recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza”.
Its noteworthy that the US President announced that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of a peace framework that allows for the rapid release of all hostages.
Trump indicated that the hostages would likely be released on Monday, telling Fox News: “The important thing is that the hostages are released,” adding: “It will likely be on Monday”.
He also announced that his administration is forming a peace council to ensure a permanent end to the conflict in the region.
The Trump peace plan, which he previously released, calls for the formation of a peace council that would oversee a non-political, technocratic Palestinian committee responsible for the day-to-day management of the Gaza Strip… It stipulated that Trump would chair the council himself.
