Former president Joe Biden harshly criticize Trump administration… Describing its tenure as dark and brutal
Former US President Joe Biden strongly criticized the administration of current President Donald Trump, describing the current period as “dark days”.
In his scathing words, Biden warned of “attacks on the rule of law” and threats to civil rights.
In a 20-minute speech at an event in Chicago, Biden didn’t specifically mention Trump by name, but his intentions were clear.
“There’s no sugarcoating it—these are dark days,” the former president told the roughly 1,100 guests.
He added, “From my perspective, we are at a historical moment in which all of these issues are reflected in every restriction of basic freedoms and the erosion of established precedents”.
Biden also criticized the current administration, saying it was working to “obscure the truth” and ensure that Congress remains a “spectator” rather than overseeing the work of the executive branch.
“We must face the harsh truth about this administration: The erasure of my administration’s accomplishments, the erasure of history rather than its making, the erasure of justice and equality—even justice itself—is a reality,” Biden said.
Biden didn’t stop there, describing the current administration as “brutal” and condemning Trump’s policy of deporting immigrants since taking office six months ago, which recently led to violent protests in Los Angeles.
“Immigrants who are in the country legally are being dragged around in handcuffs,” said Biden, who also criticized the administration’s repeated attacks on the media and law firms.
