An Iranian hypersonic missile hit a power plant belonging to the company operating the refineries in northern Israel, killing three of its workers.
The company operating the oil refineries in Haifa, northern Israel, announced that all of its facilities had been shut down due to significant damage to the power plant after it was hit by an Iranian missile early Monday morning.
This came in a statement issued Monday evening by the Bazan company, following the deaths of three of its workers in an Iranian missile attack at dawn, according to Israeli media outlets.
Three Israelis were killed early Monday in an Iranian missile attack targeting oil refineries in Haifa.
Activists on social media posted videos of the Haifa power station engulfed in flames after being hit by a missile.
The company said, “As a result of the targeting of the facilities, the power station sustained significant damage, and therefore all oil refinery facilities and affiliated companies were shut down”.
The Company explained that the damaged station is responsible for a portion of the steam and electricity production used to operate the group’s facilities, also noting that there was additional damage.
Meanwhile, working in cooperation with the electricity company, which responded immediately, to implement the necessary measures as quickly as possible to restore regular electricity supply to the complex.
The company is also assessing additional damage and determining the best ways to address it.
This isn’t the first time Iranian missiles have targeted Haifa’s oil refineries, as the Bazan Company announced on Sunday that pipelines had been damaged by Iranian missile attacks.
At the time, the company said in a statement sent to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange that as a result of the rocket attack on the north of the country over the weekend, pipelines and transmission lines between facilities within the Bazan complex were damaged locally.
It was noted that the damage to the complex didn’t result in any injuries or human damage, before Monday’s attack resulted in the deaths of three of its workers.
