China imposes sanctions on US companies in a response to Trump recent tariffs
China has imposed sanctions on 27 US companies in retaliation for President Donald Trump’s recent tit-for-tat tariffs.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that it has placed 27 American companies on export control or embargo lists.
It added that it banned 16 of these companies from exporting products with dual civilian and military uses, while the other 11 companies were placed on the unreliable companies list.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry explained that this decision aims to protect China’s national security and comply with international obligations to prevent the proliferation of weapons.
The companies affected by the decision include those operating in sectors such as defense, aviation, drone manufacturing, intelligence, and logistics, whose exports will be subject to stricter controls.
On Friday, Beijing announced an additional 34% tariff on US goods, the same rate as the tariff increase the United States has imposed on products imported from China.
On Wednesday evening, the US President announced the imposition of what he described as reciprocal tariffs on all countries, with a minimum of 10%.
