Syria: Additional US demands for the Syrian Government in order for Washington to ease sanctions

Sources in the Syrian capital, Damascus, providing additional details about the US demands presented to the Syrian Interim Government, in addition to what Reuters had previously reported.

The additional terms include:

Sever all ties with Hamas, Islamic Jihad, or any other Palestinian factions.

Classify the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization by the Syrian Interim Government.

A Public support from the interim government for the presence of US forces in the fight against ISIS.

The Syrian Interim Government recognizes the United States’ right to target individuals classified as terrorists within Syrian territory.

The Syrian Interim Government must assume responsibility for managing ISIS detainees at al Hol camp.

Eliminate any remaining chemical weapons stockpiles in Syria.

Full cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts.

Not appointing foreign fighters to leadership positions within the Syrian administration.

Appointment of a coordinator for cooperation with the United States regarding the case of American journalist Austin Tice, who has been missing in Syria for more than 10 years.

Among, other conditions, which was related to economy, managing resources, and provide security to minorities in Syria.

It’s worth noting that Reuters had previously reported on the US conditions presented during a private meeting between Natasha Franceschi, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Levant and Syria Affairs, and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al Shaibani, on the sidelines of the Brussels donors’ conference on March 18.
