More than 60 Israeli air strikes on Syria in less than five hours

More than 60 Israeli strikes targeted military sites across Syria in a matter of hours, nearly a week after rebels ousted President Bashar al Assad.

On Saturday evening, 61 airstrikes targeted Syrian territory in less than 5 hours, as the strikes are ongoing.

Israeli warplanes continue their violent escalation on Syrian territory, targeting in particular tunnels containing ballistic missile depots inside the mountains with vacuum missiles.

The warehouses contain large missiles, ammunition, mortar shells and other military equipment that Israel seeks to destroy.

The number of Israeli strikes has risen to 446 raids that have targeted 13 Syrian provinces since the fall of the former regime on December 8.

On Saturday evening, the Israeli strikes on other weapons depots in the Qalamoun region near Damascus, as well as near Daraa and Sweida in the south.

Earlier, the scientific institute and other military sites in Barzeh, on the northeastern edge of Damascus, were destroyed by Israeli strikes.

The strikes also targeted a military airport on the outskirts of the Syrian capital.

On Friday, the Israeli air force targeted a missile base on Mount Qasioun in Damascus, in addition to an airport in the Sweida region and research and defense laboratories in Masyaf in Hama province.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on Friday ordered the Israeli military to prepare to remain throughout the winter in the buffer zone between Syria and Israel in the strategic occupied Golan Heights.
