Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in an interview with CNN that “our enemy is not Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas, but rather Israeli extremists with Netanyahu,” noting that “we regret Netanyahu’s reliance on extremists and his turning a blind eye to their unacceptable actions”.

During the interview, Olmert stressed the need to end the fighting, reach an agreement and stop the ongoing killing between the two sides.

On the other hand, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid said in a statement that “there has never been a prime minister who has weakened the State of Israel more than current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,” suggesting that the government “stop making arrogant speeches, and if it wants to take credit for successes, it must also take responsibility for failures”.

At the opening session of the Knesset’s winter session on Monday evening, Lapid sharply criticized a bill the government is pushing to exempt religious Jews (Haredi) from military service, noting that “when the discussion began on the draft law to evade military service, the Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi was asked how many soldiers were missing, and he said: ten thousand.

The Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant was asked how many soldiers were missing to perform their duties, and he said the same thing, “ten thousand,” noting that “since they said that, more than 11,000 soldiers in the IDF and security services have been injured, and we have 900 dead, so we are no longer missing ten thousand soldiers, but more… We’re fighting on seven fronts”.

He considered that the real government wouldn’t even dream of passing the shameful draft law known as the draft law evasion law, nor even all the evasive draft laws that you are now trying to pass.
