Israeli official: We’re preparing for a major attack on Iran
An Israeli official said on Sunday evening that Tel Aviv is preparing to launch a major attack on Iran, in response to Tehran’s retaliatory attack 20 days ago.
Since the beginning of October, Tehran has been anticipating a possible attack by Tel Aviv, after Iran launched about 180 missiles at Israel.
Iran said its attack was in response to Israel’s assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, as well as its war in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
The Israeli official Broadcasting Authority quoted an unnamed Israeli official as saying, “Israel is preparing to carry out a major attack against Iran, and the preparations include fortifying defenses in anticipation of any possible Iranian response”.
He continued, “The security cabinet will meet at the Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv this evening, Sunday, and it is likely that during the meeting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant will be authorized to make a decision on the timing and manner of carrying out the attack”.
