According to security officials, preparations to assassinate Hassan Nasrallah began many years ago, with the Israeli intelligence agency (Mossad) gathering vital information from multiple sources.

According to Israeli security officials, the Mossad began developing precise plans to confront Hezbollah more than a decade ago.

During which Hezbollah’s strengths and weaknesses were analyzed, and a series of surprise field operations were carried out.

According to the Yedioth Ahronoth report, the intelligence information not only identified the movements of Nasrallah and Hezbollah members underground, but also included precise calculations regarding the destructive power needed to penetrate the fortifications and reach Hassan Nasrallah in his fortified command center.

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the intelligence provided to the Israeli Air Force identified the location of the room where Nasrallah was meeting with senior Hezbollah leaders and the depth of the fortifications, they used to make their military decisions.

This information also allowed Israeli pilots to accurately determine the appropriate angles to drop bombs and the required altitudes to reach the target.

The report indicated that this information was only gathered through a long series of intelligence operations that spanned years.

Specifically, Israel relied on three main sources to obtain this information: Unit 8200, which relies on advanced technology; Unit 504, which specializes in gathering information from human sources; and visual means used by Israeli forces to determine locations via drones.

Even after the raid that targeted Nasrallah and a number of Hezbollah leaders in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the Mossad continued to gather information to assess the results of the strike and its accuracy.
