Syrian Foreign Ministry issued a statement regarding on Austin Tice issue
Syria has categorically denied US accusations that it has arrested American citizen Austin Tice, describing them as baseless and a deliberate distortion of the facts.
In a statement issued by the Syrian Foreign Ministry, Damascus confirmed that recent statements issued by the White House and the US State Department included false allegations about the arrest of Tice, a former US Army officer who was said to have entered Syria as a journalist and disappeared there.
The statement indicated that these accusations constitute a deliberate distortion of the facts, and come within the framework of the US administration’s continued false accusations against Syria.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry also criticized the hostile US policies towards Syria, which include violating its sovereignty, supporting separatist militias and terrorist groups, stealing Syrian resources, and imposing harsh economic sanctions that increase the suffering of the Syrian people.
The US administration issued a statement on Wednesday marking the 12th anniversary of Austin Tice’s disappearance in Syria, claiming that the Syrian government is holding him in mysterious circumstances.
Washington also called on Damascus to cooperate in releasing Tice and revealing the fate of other Americans missing in Syria.
