Israel buys $11 billion in US weapons since the start of the Gaza war
The Israeli Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday the purchase of US weapons worth $11 billion since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip on October last year.
The Israeli Defense Ministry said this in a statement issued on the occasion of the appointment of Aviram Hassoun as the new head of its mission to the United States.
Hassoun’s appointment succeeds reserve Brigadier General Michel Ben Baruch, who held the post for 5 years.
“Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli Defense Ministry mission has purchased $11 billion worth of US weapons through unprecedented defense acquisitions,” the Israeli Defense Ministry said.
Those weapons included a squadron of F-35s, tank engines, armored vehicles and combat vehicles”, Israeli Defense Ministry said.
“The mission also transported thousands of tons of military equipment to Israel via hundreds of flights and dozens of sea cargo,” the statement added.
The volume of US gun purchases since October 7 is the highest ever compared to any similar time period.
Since October 7, Israel, with the unequivocal support of the United States, has waged a war on the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in more than 130,000 Palestinian dead and injuries, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children.
