China and Guinea elevate ties to strategic partnership
Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Bissau counterpart Guinea- Umaro Sissoco Embalo announced the elevation of the relationship between their countries to the level of strategic partnership and oversaw the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation agreements.
Receiving the president of Guinea-Bissau, who is on an official visit to Beijing, Xi Jinping said the two countries have a distinguished history of friendship and China is willing to maintain friendly and close exchanges with Guinea and is willing to continue to support as much as it can for domestic construction projects in the country.
“China and African countries wholeheartedly support and assist each other,” Xi said, stressing Beijing’s willingness to work with Guinea-Bissau and other African countries to build a high-level common future between the two sides.
For his part, Umaro Sissoco Embalo said Guinea-Bissau admires China’s great development achievements and considers China a top priority and the most important partner of diplomacy.
President Umaro Sissoco Embalo said Guinea looks forward to learning from China’s development philosophy and experience, and is willing to work closely with China on multilateral issues.
