Rishi Sunak: Britain is in a state of shocked by the bloodbath in Gaza… This terrible war must end

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said Saturday that the United Kingdom is in shock by the bloodbath in Gaza and this terrible war must end.

In a statement published half a year after the start of the war, Sunak said, “Six months have passed since the terrorist attack that occurred on October 7, which is the most horrific attack in the history of Israel”.

On that day, Hamas forces carried out an attack from Gaza on southern Israel, killing 1,170 people, the majority of them civilians, according to a count conducted by Agence France-Presse based on official Israeli figures.

More than 250 people were kidnapped and transferred to Gaza, where 129 of them are still detained, including more than 30 killed, according to the Israeli army.

The Israeli military attack on Gaza left more than 33,000 dead, according to the Ministry of Health run by Hamas.

“We continue to defend Israel’s right to defeat the threat of Hamas terrorists and defend its security,” Sunak said.

He added, “But the entire United Kingdom is in a state of shock by the bloodbath, and we are horrified by the killing of the brave British heroes who transported food to those in need in Gaza”.

Seven aid workers, including three Britons, were killed in the Palestinian Strip on Monday by Israeli drone raids after they supervised the unloading of an aid shipment transported by a ship from Cyprus.

Sunak pointed out, “This terrible war must end… The Israeli hostages must be released, and aid must flow”.

The British Prime Minister stressed that “the children of Gaza need an immediate humanitarian truce, leading to a long-term, sustainable ceasefire,” considering that this is “the fastest way to extract hostages and deliver aid”.
