Israel assassinated the deputy head of the Hamas political bureau in Lebanon
Hamas announced that Israel assassinated Saleh al Arouri, deputy head of the Hamas political bureau, on Tuesday evening.

Saleh al Arouri, 57 years old, is a founding commander of the al Qassam Brigades and is believed to be the military commander of Hamas in the West Bank.

Arouri spent multiple periods of time in Israeli prisons, and was released in March 2010 as part of the exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
According to US and Israeli sources, He was financing and managing Hamas’ military operations in the West Bank, and his name was associated with many attacks and kidnappings.
In 2014, Arouri claimed the Hamas movement’s responsibility for the June 12 attack, which resulted in the kidnapping and killing of three Israelis in the West Bank, including dual US-Israeli citizen Naftali Frankel, which he publicly praised the operation calling It as a “heroic operation”.
On December 1, he said in an interview with al Jazeera channel that “no more prisoners will be exchanged with Israel until a ceasefire is reached in Gaza”.
Several years ago, the United States put a reward of $5 million to anyone who could provide information regarding Arouri and his location.
