The SDF uses a US company to activate a pressure lobby in the United States
According to the Turkish Anadolu News Agency, the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) had concluded a contract with a US company to carry out lobbying activities on its behalf in the United States.
According to the report, the SDF uses the services of the public relations company “Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck” to manage lobby activities in the United States, and this information was obtained from data from the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
The Syria Democratic Council (SDC), affiliated with the SDF, signed a six-month contract with a public relations company last October to implement lobby activities in Washington.
According to the report, the contract includes government relations services and strategic consulting on issues before the US government.
Under the contract, the company will assist the SDF in developing relations with the US administration, especially regarding issues related to northeastern Syria.
The American company also aims to convince and educate decision-makers in the US administration that “self-administration” in northern and eastern Syria is the best option to find a permanent solution to the Syrian crisis.
The contract stipulates organizing meetings with leaders of the House of Representatives and Senate and prominent officials in the US Departments of State, Defense and Trade, in addition to exercising pressure activities to encourage investment in northeastern Syria.
According to the report, Nadeem al Shami, who previously served as private secretary to former US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, will undertake lobbying activities in the United States on behalf of the SDF.
The American company will receive $50,000 per month from the SDF for lobbying activities, with the contract automatically renewed every six months if there is no disagreement between the two parties.
