The Economist published a report, “An Israeli-Saudi agreement may change the future of the Middle East,” indicating that signing this agreement with the help of the United States could give Saudi Arabia nuclear technology.

The Economist confirmed that the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, didn’t hide his enjoyment of the perspective of a strategic treaty between the United States, Israel, and the Kingdom.

In a rare interview on September 20, Prince Mohammed bin Salman stated that an agreement is close and that the talks appear serious and real for the first time, noting that it may be the largest historic deal since the Cold War.

On September 22, the Israeli Prime Minister confirmed that the three parties were on the cusp of a deal, indicating that it would be a qualitative leap.

The Economist indicated that formal diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel, which they had shunned for a long time, were coming due to the ongoing changes.

Since Mohammed bin Salman assumed the position of Crown Prince in 2017, a secret meeting took place between him and Netanyahu once, and that there are quiet trade relations between Tel Aviv and Riyadh, with a common competitor in Iran.

There are driving factors for reaching this deal, as Saudi Arabia desires a new strategic treaty with the United States due to Iran’s potential threat in the field of nuclear weapons, which leads to the volatility of security in the region.

The talks include developing a nuclear energy reactor under US supervision in Saudi Arabia, which aims to prevent a nuclear arms race in the region.

In the end, Biden may face difficulty in marketing the deal due to Americans’ fears about the spread of nuclear weapons in the Middle East and opposition from some political sectors in the United States.
