Politico: US soldiers are under attack with a strange directed energy weapon in Syria

The Politico magazine quoted sources, on Thursday, as saying that the Pentagon is conducting an investigation into the suspicion that American forces in Syria have been attacked with “directed energy” during the past year.

The magazine said that the Pentagon briefed senior lawmakers with intelligence on the attacks, as officials concluded that Russia was the main suspect in the attacks, according to two people with direct knowledge of the matter.

The magazine stated that the Pentagon had been investigating those incidents since last year, including those that targeted its members around the world, according to four former national security officials who participated directly in the investigation.

The briefings included information about the injuries sustained by the US forces in Syria in the fall of 2020, after a number of US soldiers had flu-like symptoms.

The magazine noted that the incidents of “directed energy” attacks by Russia targeting Americans abroad are so alarming that the Pentagon’s Office of Special Operations began an investigation last year, and it is unclear exactly how many soldiers were wounded or the extent of their injuries.

It quoted a Pentagon spokesman as saying that the Defense Department had no knowledge of targeted energy attacks against US forces in Syria.

Since late 2016, nearly 50 officials have reported symptoms of a mysterious disease that has become known as the “Havana Syndrome” among US diplomats assigned to Cuba.

Symptoms included severe tinnitus and pressure in the ears, as well as loss of hearing and balance, fatigue and severe headaches, while some victims suffered from long-term brain damage.
