The Chinese President wants to bring the partnership with Saudi Arabia to a new level
Chinese President Xi Jinping informed Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday of Beijing’s desire to push its strategic partnership with Riyadh to a new level, the new China News Agency reported.
The agency added that the two leaders discussed in a phone call the strengthening of cooperation in the fields of energy, trade and technology.
China’s imports of crude oil from Saudi Arabia, its largest supplier, rose 8.8 percent in March compared to the same month a year ago, according to Chinese customs data released earlier yesterday.
According to the agency, the Saudi crown prince described China as a trusted brother country, and said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is ready to strengthen the strategic interconnection between the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify its economy away from oil, and the Belt and Road Initiative on trade and infrastructure launched by Xi.
