Israeli media: Trump will launch a military attack to push Iran to negotiate
There are official estimates in Israel that US President Donald Trump will launch a military attack on Iran to push it to negotiate.
In Israel, they estimate that Trump will launch an attack on Iran to push it to negotiate.
According to the Israeli security establishment, the protests in Iran have resulted in the death of at least 4,000 civilians.
The US administration was closer than ever to attacking Iran, as according to Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Israel’s Cabinet for Political and Security Affairs will be briefed on Tuesday evening on plans for a possible Israeli attack on Iran.
Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs are the most prominent candidates for negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
Tel Aviv and Washington accuse Tehran of seeking to produce nuclear weapons, while Iran says its program is designed for peaceful purposes, including electricity generation.
Israel is the only country in the region with a nuclear weapons arsenal, which is not officially declared and isn’t subject to IAEA oversight.
Tel Aviv has long been rumored to be rebuilding its ballistic missile capability damaged in the last war, and Israel has sought a green light from the United States to attack Iran again.
Pressure from the United States and its ally Israel on Tehran has escalated since it began popular protests in Iran on December 28 over deteriorating economic and living conditions.
Trump announced the cancellation of all meetings with Iranian officials “until the killing of protesters stops,” he said.
Countries including China and Russia have expressed their rejection of any US plans to intervene militarily in Iran’s internal affairs.
In June, Israel, with US support, launched a 12-day war on Iran, to which Tehran responded, before the United States declared a ceasefire.
Both Israel and Iran consider the other country its worst enemy and have been accusing each other for years of responsibility for acts of sabotage and cyberattacks.
Israeli Maariv newspaper reported that the Israeli Air Force, Military Intelligence (Aman) and the Northern Command have been raised on alert in anticipation of a US attack on Iran.
Maariv said in a report on Tuesday evening, citing Israeli military sources, that no decisions have been made to change the state of readiness on the Israeli home front.
However, it noted that “the Air Force, the Military Intelligence Division (AMAN) and the Northern Region Command have raised the state of alert”.
“The Israeli military continues to follow developments in Iran with great caution in anticipation of an attack on Tehran by the US military,” Maariv noted.
There is no longer room to question whether Washington will attack Iran militarily, but how and when.
It pointed out that at this stage, the Israeli army is cooperating with the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
