Yedioth Ahronoth: new details about the prisoner swap deal negotiations between Hamas and Israel
The Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that the Israeli delegation present in the Qatari capital, Doha, headed by a senior official in the Mossad, achieved progress on several issues under discussion related to the prisoner exchange deal and the ceasefire in Gaza.
Despite the progress in negotiations, the Israeli newspaper indicated that there are still gaps between the two sides at the present time.
According to the Israeli newspaper, there is a sense of optimism among cabinet ministers that the deal is close, while US official estimated in an interview with Yedioth Ahronoth that it’s possible to complete it next week.
Yedioth Ahronoth revealed a decisive message sent by a senior Israeli official in the government and coalition to the families of Israeli prisoners held in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Israeli newspaper, the official stressed in his message that the fate of their children depends on quick action, saying, “This is a critical moment for your loved ones. If you don’t move, they won’t return”.
The official explained in his message that Israel is moving toward a partial deal, saying, “We’re approaching an agreement that doesn’t include a commitment to release them”.
Speaking to the families of the prisoners, he stressed that the coming days are decisive regarding the fate of their sons, pointing out that there is a strong possibility that the exchange deal won’t be concluded before the end of Biden’s term.
He also told the families in his letter that he was certain that the comprehensive deal was the solution to all issues and would guarantee the return of their sons.
