Washington Post: Ankara inform Washington that it has audio and video records showing Khashoggi’s death
Turkey has informed US officials that it has audio and video recordings confirming the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in his consulate in Istanbul, Washington Post quoted US and Turkish officials as saying.
The newspaper said it was not clear whether US officials had seen the video footage or heard the audio records that was mentioned by the Turkish side, but made it clear that Turkish officials described the content of those records.
“The records highlight what happened to Jamal Khashoggi when he entered the Saudi consulate, where his voice can be heard along voices of men speaking Arabic, as well as hearing how he was interrogated, tortured and then killed”, the news paper quoted an unnamed source as saying.
Reuters quoted a Turkish security official as saying that Turkish investigators are currently preparing to enter the Saudi consulate, but they are waiting for the final statement from the Saudi side.
The Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi disappeared after entering the headquarters of his county’s consulate in the city of Istanbul on Tuesday (October 2nd) and lost contact with him after that.
The Turkish authorities and Saudi Arabia have given conflicting accounts about Khashoggi, who has disappeared since entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

The source also pointed to “evidence about Khashoggi’s death”.
The source said the foreign intelligence agency described the evidence, which was seen by Turkish officials, as “shocking and disconcerting”.
The effects of the Saudi journalist disappeared on October 2, after entering his consulate in Istanbul, to conduct a formal treatment for his marriage.
Khashoggi fiancé, Khadija Cengis, said in media statements that she accompanied him to the consulate building in Istanbul, and that the latter entered the building and did not get out of it.
