Wall Street Journal: Trump to likely considering appointing Musk to an advisory role if he wins the election

The Wall Street Journal revealed that Donald Trump, the likely candidate of the Republican Party in the upcoming US presidential election, is considering appointing Elon Musk, the head of Tesla, to an advisory role if he wins the election.

Trump discussed this with Musk, a sign that their relationship is improving after a period of tension.

People familiar with the talks said the proposed advisory role has yet to be decided and may not materialize, but the discussion touched on how Musk could contribute to policies related to border security and the economy, two topics Musk has become very interested in.

The report also said that Musk, in collaboration with investor Nelson Peltz, offered Trump a plan to invest in a data-driven project to prevent election fraud.

They explained to him that there is an ongoing campaign to influence voters in elite circles, where Musk and his allies are organizing rallies of business leaders to try to dissuade them from supporting the re-election campaign of incumbent President Joe Biden.

Despite exchanging accusations between Trump and Musk two years ago, they have recently established a cordial relationship and spoken on the phone several times as the election approaches.

They discussed issues such as immigration, technology, science and the United States Space Forces.

Insiders said their views have become more aligned, with Musk communicating with Trump directly via his mobile phone.

Trump has expressed interest in involving Musk more if he wins the next election.

Musk, who is known for his criticism of business traditions, has expressed a preference for using his influence in business and technology circles to support a Republican candidate rather than make large financial donations to political action committees.

Musk worries about the country’s future, criticizing liberal policies he sees as the “virus of the awakened mind,” including diversity and equality programs that conservatives say create divisions.

For his part, Trump has expressed admiration for Musk’s wealth and embraced his right-wing political leanings.

Musk announced in May 2022 that he would vote for Republicans because of what he described as the Democrats’ transformation into a divisive and hateful party.

Discussions between Trump and Musk also included Musk’s companies such as X Platform, electric car maker Tesla, and rocket and satellite launch company SpaceX, the report said.
