US military confirms death of four crew members of refueling plane downed in western Iraq
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that four crew members of a US KC-135 refueling plane were killed that crashed in Iraq.
This came in a statement issued by CENTCOM regarding the crew of the US plane that crashed in western Iraq on Thursday.
The statement noted that the search and investigation operations are continuing, and that the death of 4 of the six crew members has been confirmed.
“The downing of the plane wasn’t the result of friendly or hostile fire,” the statement said.
The statement pointed out that the identities of the soldiers who were on the plane will remain confidential for 24 hours after informing their families.
On Thursday evening, CENTCOM announced that a US Air Force KC-135 refueling plane crashed in western Iraq.
It said two planes were on mission, one of which crashed while the other landed safely.
For its part, the so-called “Islamic Resistance” in Iraq announced on Friday morning that it had shot down a US KC-135 aircraft and targeted another in western Iraq with the appropriate weapon.
