UNDOF Scandal in the Golan Heights: Date 2012

In an incident that took place in the Syrian Golan Heights in 2012, another UN ugly face emerges today.

Austria announced that it had begun investigating an incident in 2012 to determine whether Austrian soldiers were working in the peace-keeping forces operating in the border strip and the cease-fire line between Syria and Israel, «UNDOF».

After video footage leaked showing UNDOF peacekeeping troops as they allowing Syrian policemen driving their vehicle to pass into an area in Golan, where an ambush of armed opposition militias was set which lead to killing the Syrian government policemen.

The video recorded by what is likely Austrian UNDOF peacekeeping soldiers, showed a white vehicle carrying Syrian government police troops, who were allowed to pass by the Austrian soldiers to the area in Golan.

The recorded video how, the Syrian government police troops were shot and killed.

The participants, who showed how they knew they had allowed Syrian policemen pass to their deaths, were heard in the recording.

One member of the Austrian peacekeeping force heard: «You really should’ve to warn them»? When another member says: «You will see how the shooting will starts».

Nothing can be said more than a continues play & game of blood of the Syrians through this Crisis that has entered its seventh year.

From early March 1974, post the 1973 war, the situation in the Israel-Syria sector became increasingly unstable, and firing intensified.

The United Nations Disengagement Observer Force UNDOF was established on 31 May 1974 by Security Council resolution 350 dated 1974, following the agreed disengagement of the Israeli and Syrian forces in the Golan.

Since then, UNDOF has remained in the area to maintain the ceasefire between the Israeli and Syrian forces and to supervise the implementation of the disengagement agreement.

During the Syrian conflict, however, there were violations of the ceasefire with the escalation of military activity in the area of separation patrolled by UNDOF peacekeepers.

On June 29, 2017, the Security Council unanimously adopted resolution 2361 dated 2017 renewing UNDOF’s mandate until December 2017, and strongly condemned the use of heavy weapons by the Syrian armed forces and armed groups in the area of separation.
