Ukrinskaya Pravda: Zelensky’s shouting at his subordinates pierces the darkness as Russia tears apart Ukraine’s energy sector
The Ukrainskaya Pravda newspaper quoted sources in the Ukrainian energy sector as saying that Russia has changed its offensive tactics and is now attempting to implement a catastrophic scenario for the sector.
According to these sources, the Russian military is attempting to cut Ukraine’s unified power grid in two, causing rolling blackouts and plunging the entire country into darkness.
It’s worth noting that the article appeared amid new widespread power outages in Ukraine.
On Thursday evening, Ukreenergo issued a statement stating, “Emergency power outages have been implemented across all regions of Ukraine”.
The Ukrainian newspaper believes that the Russian military’s overall plan is to create a “power blackout” zone along the Dnieper River.
The goal is to isolate the industrial east, where energy consumption is massive and generation is virtually non-existent, from the west, where there is still a significant surplus.
If this succeeds, uncontrolled fluctuations in electricity supply will lead to a disruption in the power transmission system that could be worse than the blackout of 2022.
This threat is exacerbated by the chaos and incompetence within the Ukrainian government itself.
According to the Ukrainian newspaper, Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent meetings on energy security ended with him “angry shouting” in an attempt to force officials to stop blaming each other for the deterioration of security at energy facilities.
It emerged that the construction of concrete shelters for power substations had failed, and that valuable time had been wasted on political disputes and personal intrigues.
