Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan affirmed in a post on X that Turkey will continue to support Syria in its war against terrorist organizations, praising the remarkable progress Damascus has achieved in several areas.

Fidan wrote, “Today, I visited Damascus for the third time in the nine months since the Assad regime was overthrown… With each visit, I witness firsthand the positive developments achieved in Syria across various sectors”.

He added, “Under the leadership of our President and Syrian President Sharaa, we are committed to strengthening cooperation between Türkiye and Syria in all areas”.

During his meetings with Ahmed al Sharaa, Fidan noted that they discussed a variety of issues, including trade, investment, transportation, and energy, as well as assessing possible steps to enhance bilateral and regional cooperation aimed at rebuilding Syria.

He pointed out that security was a major focus of the dialogue, with a focus on confronting internal and external threats targeting Syria’s sovereignty and political unity.

The Turkish Foreign Minister stressed that his country will continue to support Syria in its fight against terrorist organizations, and affirmed Türkiye’s readiness to provide the necessary support to the Syrian government in managing and securing the camps in the country’s northeast.

Fidan noted the Syrian people’s aspirations to exploit this historic phase to build a more secure, stable, and prosperous future, noting the significant challenges facing the Syrian government in achieving this goal.

He also praised international support, particularly from the United States and European countries, for helping Syria overcome these challenges.

However, he also criticized Israel’s policy, which he described as seeking to destabilize the region.

Fidan concluded by saying, “The international community bears a shared responsibility to confront these policies and prevent tolerance for Israeli actions that harm the security and stability of our region”.
