Trump’s approval rating drops to 36%, its lowest level since returning to the White House
A Reuters poll conducted by Ipsos showed that US President Donald Trump’s popularity has fallen to its lowest level since returning to the White House, affected by rising fuel prices and widespread rejection of the war on Iran.
According to the four-day poll that ended Monday, only 36% of Americans approved of Trump’s performance in office, down from 40% in the poll last week.
The poll also showed that support for US strikes on Iran has dropped to 35%, from 37% last week, while the percentage of disapproving reached 61%, in a clear indication of growing popular opposition to US foreign policy in the region.
The Middle East has been witnessing great tension since the United States and Israel began a series of raids on targets in Iran, including the capital, Tehran, on February 28th, which resulted in significant damage and civilian casualties, and the assassination of former Iranian leader Ali Khamenei and a number political figures and commanders of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian army.
Iran responded by launching missile strikes on Israeli territory and targeting US military installations in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, promising an unprecedented response if the escalation continues.
