US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he is open to meeting with either Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei or Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

This came in response to a question from Time magazine during an April 22 interview about whether he plans to meet either of them amid the ongoing nuclear talks between the United States and Iran.

Since April 12, Washington and Tehran have held rounds of talks on Iran’s nuclear program, the first of which began in Muscat and the second in Rome.

The third round is scheduled to include expert-level technical talks, with Michael Anton, the State Department’s policy planning officer, leading the American side.

Earlier, Trump wrote a letter to Khamenei in March, calling for talks between the two countries, while warning of the possibility of military action if diplomacy failed.
