The United States accusing Iran of “extortion” in the nuclear dispute and wants to resume talks

The United States has accused Iran of trying to “extort” money from the international community by breaking the 2015 nuclear deal.
The accusation came from Washington’s ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which monitors Iran’s nuclear activities under the fragile agreement.
“There is no credible reason for Iran to expand its nuclear program”, Ambassador Jackie Walcott told the agency’s 35-nation board of governors in Vienna.
“There is no way to read this, but it is a blatant attempt to extort financial payments from the international community”.
The ambassador referred to the reduction of Iran’s obligations under the agreement, in response to the severe US economic sanctions.
The reduction to date is to raise uranium enrichment above the level stipulated in the agreement, as well as to increase the stockpile of LEU above the permitted amount.
US President Donald Trump vowed on Wednesday to increase sanctions on Iran “soon” in his latest threats to Tehran.
Trump also claimed in a tirade that Iran was enriching uranium secretly, without providing proof.
“Iran is secretly enriching it in complete violation of the $ 150 billion agreement put forth by John Kerry, the former US secretary of state, and the Obama administration.
Remember that this agreement will expire in a few years. And soon the sanctions will be increased significantly”.
In Vienna, Walcott reiterated that Washington “is ready for negotiations without preconditions” and called on Tehran to reverse recent abuses.
“We offer Iran the possibility of full normalization of relations”.
However, Iran has rejected America’s offer to renegotiate the nuclear agreement, called the “Comprehensive Joint Action Plan”.
Iran aims to reduce its commitments to pressure European countries to strengthen their efforts to help Iran overcome the impact of sanctions.
Germany, France, Britain and the European Union on Monday expressed “deep concern” about Iran’s enrichment activities and urged Tehran to back down on measures to reduce commitments “without delay”.
They also called for an urgent meeting of the parties remaining in the nuclear deal.
The Iranian president today received a speech on the nuclear dispute from French President Emmanuel Macron
According to the official website of the Presidential Office in Iran, President Rouhani praised during his meeting with the advisor of the President of the Republic of France for Diplomatic Affairs, Emmanuel Bonn, on the efforts of Macron and the message he sent to him.
“Iran has kept the course of diplomacy fully open and we hope that both sides will take this opportunity Good to reach the desired level, the full implementation of the nuclear agreement”.
He added that the goal of the Islamic Republic of Iran lies in the full implementation of the commitments stipulated in the nuclear agreement by the parties to the agreement, and if the two sides committed to these commitments, Iran will take new steps in the context of the completion of its commitments also.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meeting on Iran came at the request of the United States, which has been putting enormous pressure on Tehran since US President Donald Trump withdrew from an agreement reached under his predecessor Barack Obama in 2015 to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
In return for easing economic sanctions.
Iran aims to reduce its commitments to pressure European countries to strengthen their efforts to help Iran overcome the impact of sanctions.
No major decisions are expected from the Vienna meeting today.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency will be an opportunity to review violations by other parties to the agreement.
“The meeting of the (IAEA) board of governors will be an opportunity for Iran to present to the council clear breaches of the nuclear agreement by the United States and European countries”, IRNA news agency quoted Abbas Mousavi as saying.
Mousaoui said he was surprised that the United States had called for the meeting despite its withdrawal from the agreement.
