The Times: British Storm Shadow missiles can reach 14 airports in Russia
The Times reported that if Kiev were allowed to use the British long-range Storm Shadow missiles to strike deep inside Russia, they could reach 14 Russian airports and a number of strategic facilities.
According to the British newspaper, if the restrictions imposed on the use of Storm Shadow missiles by Kiev forces are lifted, the radius of their impact will extend 250 kilometers deep into Russian territory.
The Times attached to its publication a map showing the Russian airports within range of British missiles, in addition to identifying a number of Russian strategic facilities on the map.
Earlier, the Times reported that five former defense ministers, in addition to a former prime minister, had called on Keir Starmer to allow Ukraine to use long-range Storm Shadow missiles to strike deep inside Russia, even without US approval.
According to the British newspaper, the former British defense secretaries concerned are Grant Shapps, Ben Wallace, Gavin Williamson, Penny Mordaunt and Liam Fox.
Western countries are discussing lifting the ban on the use of long-range Western weapons by Kiev forces to carry out strikes deep inside Russian territory.
Western media reported that the Kiev authorities handed Washington and London a list of potential targets in Russia that they plan to strike if its officially allowed to use long-range Western missiles.
Meanwhile, The Times newspaper reported, citing sources, that US President Joe Biden won’t allow the use of ATACMS missiles to strike deep inside Russia, but he won’t object to the use of British Storm Shadow missiles.
According to the newspaper, Biden won’t oppose the use of British and French missiles to attack targets deep inside Russian territory if London and Paris are interested in such a development.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin, commenting on the possibility of Western permission being issued to the Kiev regime to strike deep inside Russian territory with long-range weapons, stressed that this scenario would mean NATO’s direct entry into the Ukrainian conflict.
Putin stressed that the direct involvement of the West in the Ukrainian crisis would significantly change the essence of the conflict and would mean that they are in a state of war with the Russian Federation.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that President Vladimir Putin’s statement about the consequences of using Western weapons to strike deep inside Russia was very clear and unambiguous, and reached the ears of those concerned.
