The Qassam Brigades announces the recovery of two Israeli hostages’ bodies during search operations in Gaza
The Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said Tuesday evening that it had recovered the bodies of the two Israeli captives, Amiram Cooper and Saher Baruch, during search operations.
In a statement earlier Tuesday, the Qassam Brigades said they had found the body of a hostage during a search operation in a tunnel south of the Gaza Strip, adding that they would “postpone the handover, which was scheduled for Wednesday, due to the occupation’s violations”.
The Qassam Brigades stressed that “any Zionist escalation will hinder the search, excavation and retrieval of bodies, which will delay the occupation’s recovery of the bodies of its dead”.
Hamas confirmed on Tuesday evening that it had no connection to the shooting of an Israeli soldier in Rafah, stressing its commitment to the ceasefire agreement.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that the military leadership had received instructions to launch heavy strikes on Gaza immediately, following the completion of security consultations.
The Israeli attack included shelling the vicinity of the Shifa Hospital Street with a number of warplanes, and targeting the hospital’s backyard.
This development comes at a time of increasing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement reached through US President Donald Trump’s plan.
