The New York Times reported that US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff still intends to participate in the nuclear talks between Iran and the United States scheduled for June 15 in the Omani capital, Muscat.

The New York Times reported on Friday the allegations of an official familiar with the nuclear talks who preferred to remain anonymous.

The official claimed that US envoy Witkoff still intends to participate in the meeting in Muscat.

On the other hand, Iran announced that it had suspended nuclear negotiations with the United States following the Israeli aggression.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said after the aggression in a phone interview with Fox News, “Iran cannot possess a nuclear bomb, and we hope it returns to the negotiating table”.

“We’ll see what happens… There are some (Iranian) leadership figures who won’t return,” he added, implying that they were killed in Israeli strikes.

At dawn on Friday, Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran, codenamed “Rising Lion,” during which it bombed nuclear targets in various regions and assassinated military leaders and scientists.

The Israeli army said in a statement that it “launched, under the direction of the political echelon, a precise and comprehensive preemptive attack to strike the Iranian nuclear program”.

The statement, “Dozens of warplanes have just completed the opening strike, which targeted dozens of military targets belonging to the Iranian regime, including nuclear targets, in various regions of Iran”.

In response, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, in a message addressed to his people, threatened Israel with severe punishment in response to the attacks.
