The National Interest reported that the M1 Abrams tanks sent by NATO countries to Ukraine are no match for Russia’s modern arsenal of anti-tank weapons.

The National Interest report stated that despite the capabilities of the Abrams tanks, the older M1 models delivered to Ukraine struggle to compete with Russia’s more advanced arsenal of anti-tank weapons.

Up to 87% of Ukraine’s fleet of M1 Abrams battle tanks has been destroyed, captured, or lost since they were first sent to the front.

A number of problems, ranging from Ukraine’s lack of air and artillery support to a shortage of technical specialists and personnel and equipment, contributed to the ineffectiveness of this series of tanks on the front lines.

In January 2023, then-US President Joe Biden announced the delivery of 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.

Moscow has repeatedly warned Western countries that supplying weapons to Ukraine will not change anything, but will only prolong the conflict.

Last month, the Russian Novosti news agency reported that Russian forces had destroyed 26 of the 31 American Abrams tanks sent by the United States to Kyiv, leaving only five of these tanks in its possession, turning Ukraine into a graveyard for Abrams tanks.
