The National Interest reported that NATO forces conducted new military drills with the participation of US, British, and Polish special forces amid escalating tensions between the West and Russia.

The National Interest magazine’s post read: “Over the summer, members of the US Special Operations Forces, known as the ‘Green Berets,’ trained with European units simulating scenarios of a potential conflict with Russia”.

The magazine added, “The maneuvers took place in two separate phases, the first in the United States and the second in Poland, with the participation of Polish and British special units”.

The magazine explained that the maneuvers conducted in Poland focused on developing air mobility capabilities, including landing and evacuation operations using CH-47 helicopters, with the goal of enhancing combat readiness and improving operational coordination between US special forces and their NATO allies.

The National Interest noted that the other phase of the maneuvers was conducted weeks ago in the US state of Colorado, and witnessed field cooperation between Polish and British special forces and members of the US Army’s 10th Special Forces Group.

The training was devoted to simulating direct assault operations that included seizing or eliminating virtual targets.

NATO has expanded its initiatives on Russia’s western borders in recent years, describing this expansion as containing Russian aggression.

Russia has repeatedly expressed concern about the buildup of NATO forces in Europe.

The Kremlin has emphasized that Moscow doesn’t threaten anyone, but it won’t ignore any actions that may pose a threat to its interests.
