Los Angeles authorities announced Friday evening that 58,000 buildings are in danger due to the ongoing fires, and issued evacuation orders for about 153,000 people as the fires continued for a third consecutive day and grew out of control.

The Palisades Fire, which lies between Santa Monica and Malibu in western Los Angeles, and the Eaton Fire to the east near Pasadena, are among the most destructive fires in the city’s history.

The fires have consumed more than 34,000 acres, turning entire residential areas into ashes.

The death toll from the Los Angeles fires has reportedly risen to 10.

According to AccuWeather, a weather forecasting company, estimated the extent of the damage and economic losses resulting from the fires at between $135 and $150 billion.

Since the fires broke out, California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency, ordering more than 1,400 firefighters to battle the blazes.

However, the Los Angeles Fire Department said firefighting efforts are facing significant challenges due to high winds and traffic congestion.
