Israeli media reported on Wednesday that the Israeli war cabinet, rejected a proposal by the Mossad Director regarding a new prisoner exchange deal with Hamas.

Israeli Channel 13 reported, on Wednesday evening, that David Barnea, Mossad Director, presented a proposal to go to Qatar to discuss completing a new prisoner and hostage exchange deal with Hamas, but the war cabinet rejected his proposal.

The 13-channel explained that Benny Gantz, a member of the Israeli War Cabinet, believed that his country must find an opportunity to move the negotiation process with Hamas forward again.

Earlier, Israeli media reported that the German intelligence service was participating in negotiations regarding a new hostage recovery deal between Israel and Hamas.

The Israeli i24NEWS website reported from Palestinian sources that the German intelligence service (BND) is conducting negotiations regarding a new hostage exchange deal between Hamas and Israel, especially since Germany previously participated in the deal with the captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit and the dead Israeli pilot, Ron Arad.

Israel made an initial offer to release 50 wounded and elderly members from Hamas families in exchange for the release of 150 sick and elderly prisoners from Israel, while Hamas indicated that at this stage it doesn’t want militants who were arrested during the recent war.

The Israeli i24NEWS website expected two scenarios from the head of the Hamas political bureau in Gaza, Yahya al Sinwar, where the first scenario indicates a cessation of fighting, when his rule in Gaza continues, meaning a long-term ceasefire, and stipulates the conclusion of a large hostage deal stating all for all, although its chances are very slim in the near term.

The second scenario talks about a temporary truce, following a policy of buying time in the face of the Israeli war, and making a small humanitarian push that requires the release of patients and women, which is a moderate possibility and could happen next month, and the goal in Tel Aviv is to try to reach this agreement, relying on tools the pressure represented in the military operation and the emergence of intermediaries in the deal.
