A Jordanian delegation, includes a number of businessmen and industrialists headed by Adnan Abu Ragheb, the head of the Jordanian Chamber of Industry, arrived in Damascus to discuss the reactivation of trade relations between Syria and Jordan.
The Jordanian delegation held several meetings in Damascus to discuss activating the mechanisms of activating the memorandums signed between the two sides and opening the border crossings where the members of the Jordanian delegation stressed the necessity of re-establishing trade relations between the two countries and restoring the movement of Jordanian goods through transit through Syria to Lebanon and Europe, at time that Syrian products were so important for the Jordanian market.
Closing the borders between the two countries caused a big drop in the value of Jordanian exports due to high transport costs.
The head of the Jordanian delegation stressed that the war on Syria had a negative impact on the Jordanian economy because Syria is the gateway of Jordan to Europe and the Syrian exports also meet the needs of the Jordanian market.
Some sources in Damascus said that the relations between Jordan and Syria are re-active and there are investment plans in all regions with serious work to activate relations with Jordan to activate the trade exchange movement between the two countries and remove the economic obstacles.
Meanwhile, Libyan Airlines asked for clarification on the status of airports in Syria, in preparation for the return of Libyan aviation, according to an official source at the General Organization of Civil Aviation of Syria.
News from Damascus reported that the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority had sent a letter clarifying the status of Syrian airports.
According to the source, the Syrian Civil Aviation Organization replied that the Syrian airspace is safe and the airports are ready to receive flights.
Air traffic in Syria has declined both internally and externally, during the years of the Syrian crisis, after a large number of countries suspended their relations with the Syrian government and its institutions, along with the imposed European and American sanctions.
The Syrian Minister of Transport Ali Hammoud, announced in March, the start of receiving requests from Arab and international civil airlines, to allow them to cross into the Syrian airspace, pointing to take all actions related to the successful transit of aircraft.
Relations between Libya and the Syrian government in recent months have improved after Libyan merchants participated in the Made in Syria exhibition.
The participation led to an agreement between Syria’s Minister of Economy, Muhammad Samer al-Khalil, and his Libyan counterpart in the interim government Mounir Ezzar on 19 February to open a trade line between Libya and Syria.
